Intro
Hyundai has confirmed development of an A+ Segment Electric SUV for the Indian market, to be launched in 2027. That’s important because it puts Hyundai in the fast growing sub-compact electric crossovers led by Tata Punch.ev.
Exterior and packaging
The vehicle will have upright crossover proportions and while dimensions are not confirmed, the A+ segment positioning means it will have a longer wheelbase than entry A-segment rivals, which should translate to more rear legroom and boot space.
Interior and tech
Unconfirmed but likely to have a modern cabin like Hyundai’s recent small SUVs, with dual screens and connected car suite with OTA (Over-The-Air) support. A heat pump – common in high-efficiency EVs – would be great for Indian climate but that’s not confirmed.
Powertrain and range
Sources say 35-40 kWh battery, which is what other city focused EVs in this class have. It will have fast charging and speeds will be competitive with rivals to ensure daily usability and quick top-ups.

Price and rivals
Will be positioned below larger mass market EVs and above micro-EVs, so it will be against Tata Punch.ev and upcoming compact EV crossovers.
Closing note
2027 launch gives Hyundai time to localize the supply chain and tailor the vehicle for the Indian market. By leveraging localization incentives and offering a good package of features and charging support, this A+ EV can be a strong contender for first time EV buyers in urban India.
