What’s New: Renault’s Big Family SUV Arrives

The Renault Boreal 7-seater SUV India launch is in 2026 and it’s got the goods to disrupt the midsize family SUV space. With French design, premium tech and a hybrid option in the mix, this one’s not just about size – it’s about brains, brawn and substance.

Sitting higher in Renault India’s SUV range than the upcoming Duster, the Boreal is set to rival popular 3-row contenders like the Hyundai Alcazar, Mahindra XUV700, and Tata Safari. Prices will start at ₹13 lakh and go up to ₹18 lakh (ex-showroom).

Design That Impresses

The Boreal looks like a modern family SUV – tall, muscular and striking. Key design highlights are:

  • LED DRLs and backlit Renault logo
  • 19-inch alloy wheels with wide stance
  • Two-tone roof with roof rails
  • 213 mm ground clearance for Indian roads
  • Hidden rear door handles for a sleek side profile

It’s built on Renault’s Kardian platform, which means flexible architecture for both urban and off-road use.

Cabin Tech That’s Premium

Step inside and it feels like a lounge – smart, clean and connected. The dual 10-inch screens combine digital driver info with infotainment powered by Google Automotive Services. That means native Google Maps, Assistant and Play Store, all updated with OTA updates.

Other interior features:

  • Panoramic sunroof and ambient lighting
  • Electrically adjustable seats with memory and massage
  • Dual-zone climate control and cooled center console
  • Harman Kardon sound system
  • Up to 1,770 liters of cargo space with seats folded

Hybrid Power and Smart Drive Modes

For India, Renault will likely offer two powertrains:

  • 1.3L turbo petrol with around 151 bhp
  • Strong hybrid with battery assist, good for ~155 bhp

No diesel expected but a CNG variant could be in the works. Drive modes will include Eco, Comfort, Sport and a new Smart Mode that adapts on the go. AWD will be available on top trims.## Family-Friendly with Level 2 ADAS

Renault is serious about safety and the Boreal gets 24 ADAS features including:

  • Automatic Emergency Braking
  • Lane Keep Assist
  • Adaptive Cruise Control
  • Hands-free parking
  • 360-degree camera and 6 airbags standard

When?

The Renault Boreal 7-seater SUV India launch is in 2026 and production will likely be at Renault’s Chennai plant. Expect the reveal to happen in late 2025.
