Yamaha MT-07 Is Coming to India and We’re So Down

The wait is over – kind of. Yamaha MT-07 India launch is expected happening in late 2025 and we’re stoked. This thing has been a legend overseas for years – lightweight, grunty, ridiculously fun – and now it’s (almost) our turn. Priced between ₹7.5 to ₹8 lakh (ex-showroom), Yamaha is about to shake up the mid-weight streetfighter space.

If you’re the kind of rider who likes torque over top-end bragging rights and prefers agility over numbers, you’re already drooling.

Master of Torque? Yep, That’s Still True

Let’s talk specs – but in a way that makes sense. At the heart of the MT-07 is the fan-favourite 689cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin CP2 engine. That 270-degree crank? It produces 72.4 bhp at 8,750 rpm and 67 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm and makes the bike feel like a mini V-twin than a buzzy twin. It’s not scary fast but hits hard where it matters – in the mid-range where most real-world riding happens.

Shifting is taken care of by a 6-speed manual gearbox with assist and slipper clutch making city crawling or spirited canyon runs a whole lot smoother.

And if Yamaha brings the global model’s semi-automatic Y-AMT transmission here? Buckle up. That tech lets you shift using buttons or let the bike do all the work – no clutch needed. It’s not confirmed yet for India but even the possibility is wild.

Streetfighter Stance, But Smarter

Yamaha’s sticking to the Hyper Naked look and we’re not complaining. Think sharp LED face, sculpted fuel tank, flat bars and lighter 17-inch spin-forged alloy wheels to keep the weight down to just about 183 kg.The frame is all-new too – a tubular steel chassis tuned for better rigidity and agility. Paired with telescopic forks up front and a preload-adjustable rear monoshock, the ride should be comfortable and capable. Dual discs with radial calipers and dual-channel ABS? That’s standard now, as it should be.

Inside the cockpit you get a 5-inch TFT dash with smartphone connectivity, traction control, multiple ride and power modes and maybe even cruise control on higher trims. Finally, some brains to match the brawn.

Final Thoughts: This Might Just Be The One

If you’ve been waiting for a bike that’s got real personality, real torque, and doesn’t cost as much as a small car – the Yamaha MT-07 India launch could be your moment. Against the likes of the CB750 Hornet, Z650, and Trident 660, this one’s got the right combo of attitude and ability.

Late 2025 can’t come fast enough.
