BYD Atto 2 India Launch Nears as Test Mule Spotted

The BYD Atto 2 has been spotted testing in India, hinting at the compact electric SUV’s expected launch sometime in 2025. Expected to arrive in second half of 2025, the Atto 2 will sit below the Atto 3 in BYD’s lineup and target the affordable compact EV SUV segment.

Compact Yet Practical Dimensions

Based on BYD’s e-Platform 3.0, the Atto 2 gets a boxier stance with upright proportions. The BYD Atto 2 comes in a compact footprint, stretching about 4.3 meters in length with a width of 1.83 meters and height of 1.67 meters. Its 2,620 mm wheelbase promises decent cabin space despite the tight dimensions. Expect sharp LED lighting, connected taillamps and a faux rear diffuser to complete the design package.

Interior with Tech-First Focus

Inside, the cabin will likely follow BYD’s premium minimalism theme. Highlights will include a 12.8-inch rotatable touchscreen, an 8.8-inch digital cluster, vegan leather upholstery, ambient lighting and heated front seats. Boot space will start at 400 litres and go up to 1,340 litres making it practical for small families.

BYD Blade Battery and Range

The India spec Atto 2 will likely use the same 45.1 kWh Blade Battery as seen in Europe with a single-motor front-wheel-drive setup. It will produce an estimated 175 BHP and 290 Nm and 0–100 km/h in 7.9 seconds. Real world range will be between 245–320 km and 65 kW DC fast charging will enable 30–80% top up in under 30 minutes.

Safety and Smart Tech

Built on BYD’s Cell-to-Body (CTB) platform, the SUV will have a rigid structure and improved safety. Expect features like ADAS, 360-degree camera, TPMS, multiple airbags. A heat pump system will also come standard for efficiency in varied climates.

Expected Price and Rivals

Price will be between ₹17 lakh to ₹25 lakh (ex-showroom). When launched, the Atto 2 will rival the Tata Curvv EV, Maruti e-Vitara, Hyundai Creta EV.
