When I saw the new price, I had to double-check. The Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line, which launched at ₹49 lakh just three months ago, is now priced at ₹46 lakh ex-showroom. That’s a ₹3 lakh drop on a German premium SUV that barely had time to settle into showrooms.
The Tiguan R-Line always had the ingredients to stand out. A sporty design, sharp performance and a premium interior packed with features. But let’s be honest, being a CBU unit made it expensive right out of the gate. And in a market that loves 7-seaters and strong value, rivals like the Hyundai Tucson and Skoda Kodiaq grabbed more attention.
Still, this SUV is no ordinary city cruiser. It runs on a punchy 2.0L turbo-petrol engine, putting out 204 PS and 320 Nm of torque. The 7-speed DSG gearbox and 4MOTION AWD make it genuinely fun to drive. You feel that European engineering the moment you hit the throttle.

Inside, it’s all about comfort and tech. From a large 15-inch touchscreen and panoramic sunroof to massaging front seats, ambient lighting and wireless charging, it feels like a proper luxury space. Safety tech is solid too, with 9 airbags and ADAS features like Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Assist.
If the price was holding you back, now might be the best time to take a second look. At ₹46 lakh, the Tiguan R-Line suddenly feels like a lot more SUV for the money.
