The roads may soon see a familiar face, only this time with a new look and a tech-loaded cabin. Tata Sumo 2025 is buzzing again and Sumo fans are waiting with bated breath. While Tata Motors hasn’t said anything officially, industry whispers suggest a complete overhaul of this once-king of the roads.
From Rugged Classic to Modern Challenger
Launched in the mid-90s, the original Sumo was known for its durability, high seating position and spacious interiors. It was the go-to vehicle for families, tour operators and rural transport. The 2025 version, if it happens, will retain its tough, high-riding stance but swap its old-school looks for bold LED DRLs, a new front grille and a more sculpted rear inspired by Tata’s latest SUVs.
Expected Engine and Features
Rumours suggest a BS6 compliant 1.5-litre turbo diesel engine with an automatic transmission — something the original Sumo never had. Inside, expect a modern dashboard with touchscreen infotainment, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, rear AC vents, automatic climate control and flexible seating for 7 or 9 passengers. Safety is expected to improve with standard dual airbags, ABS with EBD, and the addition of parking sensors.
A Strategic Slot in Tata’s Lineup
If launched, the new Sumo would be positioned under the Harrier and Safari, offering a rugged yet practical choice in the budget SUV/MUV segment. Its closest rival? The Mahindra Bolero, a name that still rules the rural roads.
For now, all eyes are on Tata Motors. Should the Tata Sumo 2025 Relaunched rumours come true, it will be one of the most talked about comebacks of the year.
