Ampere, the electric two-wheeler brand of Greaves Electric Mobility, has launched its upgraded family scooter, the Magnus Grand, in India on September 18, 2025. The new model packs more value with a Lithium Ferro Phosphate (LFP) battery and fresh design elements to take on the growing urban electric scooter market.

Ampere Magnus Grand: Price in India and Launch Date

Priced at ₹89,999 (ex-showroom), the Magnus Grand is a well-rounded option that undercuts some rivals and upgrades on features and design. Launched on September 18, 2025, this single-variant scooter is introduced at an introductory ex-showroom price of ₹89,999. It targets commuters looking for a reliable and affordable electric ride with modern technology and a decent range.

Magnus Grand: Battery, Range and Performance Specs

Under the hood, the Magnus Grand has a 2.3 kWh LFP battery that claims a range of 118 km on the Indian Driving Cycle (IDC). Real world figures are around 80-95 km in Eco mode. The scooter is powered by a hub motor that produces 1.5 kW nominal and 2.4 kW peak output, can go up to 65 km/h and 0-40 km/h in 6.5 seconds. Charging takes around 5-6 hours with the standard 7.5A charger.

Design and New Features of the Magnus Grand

The Magnus Grand retains the dual-frame chassis of the Magnus Neo, but with subtle design updates. It gets two new dual-tone premium colours: Matcha Green and Ocean Blue with gold finish badging. Other highlights include brown quilted seat cover and refreshed pillion grab rail for better passenger comfort. Inside, a new digital LCD instrument cluster provides better visibility, a notable upgrade from the previous model’s display. It features LED headlights and turn signals, though the taillight remains a halogen unit. A USB charging port and 22 liters of under-seat storage adds to the scooter’s daily use.

How Does the Magnus Grand Compare to Rivals?

In terms of competition, the Magnus Grand is priced slightly below the base TVS iQube (2.2 kWh variant), which starts at ₹94,434. While the iQube offers a faster top speed, the Magnus Grand provides a longer claimed range. It’s ₹5,000 more than the Magnus Neo but gets a premium look and more features, making it a tough competitor in its segment.

Magnus Grand vs Magnus Neo: What’s New?

The update is all about design and feature upgrades and not mechanical changes. The battery chemistry is now LFP which means better longevity and safety. The new LCD console and premium colours makes the scooter look better without changing the performance formula.

Conclusion: With the Magnus Grand, Ampere looks to strengthen its presence in the family scooter segment by combining an aggressive introductory price with practical upgrades. The long-lasting LFP battery, backed by a 5-year/75,000 km warranty, makes it a compelling option for daily city commuters prioritizing reliability and value.
