BMW C 400 GT gets a price reset this month and is now priced at Rs 10.83 lakh (ex-showroom) under GST 2.0, down by Rs 92,000 from the earlier Rs 11.75 lakh. The new price is effective September 22, same as the reduced tax slab for up to 350cc engines. Why it matters: it brings BMW’s city-touring scooter within realistic consideration for buyers who wanted the tech and comfort without the earlier sticker shock.

New price and the Rs 92,000 cut

BMW Motorrad’s updated sticker brings the C 400 GT to Rs 10.83 lakh, which is the 18% GST bracket for sub-350cc two-wheelers versus the earlier 28%. That’s a straight Rs 92,000 off the previous Rs 11.75 lakh, effective September 22, 2025. For context, the model was launched in India in March 2025.

GST 2.0 impact explained

GST 2.0 reduces the tax rate for two-wheelers up to 350cc to 18% and the C 400 GT’s 350cc engine qualifies – hence the big cut. For buyers, that means lower ex-showroom price and on-road prices will vary by state due to RTO and insurance components. The date alignment – pricing effective from September 22 – is the same as the nationwide rollout of the revised slab.

Key features and cabin tech

Everything remains the same: 10.25-inch TFT with Bluetooth connectivity and Connectivity Pro package, ride-by-wire and keyless ignition for daily use. 37.6 litres of storage under the seat and a USB-C port along with a small 4.5-litre front compartment for quick-grab items. Manually adjustable screen and full LED lighting for its touring intent.

Engine and performance

The 350cc single makes 33.5-34 hp and 35 Nm, paired to a CVT for smooth twist-and-go acceleration. Claimed top speed is 129 km/h and indicated efficiency is 28.57 kmpl – numbers that are good for fast urban runs and intercity hops. For riders moving up from commuter scooters, the broader powerband and highway composure are the real upgrades.

Ride, handling and safety

Steel frame, telescopic fork and twin rear shocks with preload adjustability, twin 265 mm front discs and single rear disc with dual-channel ABS. Cornering ABS and traction control for wet city streets and faster highways. 15-inch front and 14-inch rear alloy wheels.

Price and rivals

At Rs 10.83 lakh, the C 400 GT is cheaper than the Honda X-ADV’s roughly Rs 11.9 lakh ex-showroom price, so there’s a roughly Rs 1 lakh gap for buyers cross-shopping premium scooter-tourers. While the Honda has a bigger engine and ADV stance, the BMW is lighter and more urban-friendly so easier to live with in traffic.

Closing note: With GST 2.0 softening the entry point, the C 400 GT’s blend of comfort tech and effortless performance is easier to justify – especially for riders who commute all week and tour on weekends.
