When I saw Ford invests $5B to launch a low cost electric pickup I felt like I was reading about something in a history book. You can almost hear the machines humming in Kentucky and Michigan, smell the metal in the air and see rows of brand new trucks waiting to hit the road.
This new pickup will start at around $30,000 which is rare for an EV. It’ll be a midsize 4 door with more interior room than a Toyota RAV4, a frunk for storage and a real truck bed. Ford says it won’t just look practical it’ll be fast too with acceleration like a Mustang EcoBoost.
What makes this even more exciting is Ford’s new way of building it. Instead of the usual single assembly line the “assembly tree” method builds the front, rear and battery sections at the same time before joining them. That means faster builds and easier for workers.
By 2027 this might not just be another pickup, it could be the moment Ford redefines what affordable electric driving really means.
