Genesis is coming to India and the Genesis Electrified GV70 is the flagship to lead the charge. As the brand inches closer to entering the Indian market, this luxury electric SUV is being watched by buyers and rivals alike.
Design and Features: What’s Unique
From the outside, the Electrified GV70 looks like the petrol GV70 but with EV touches like the closed crest grille that doubles as a charging port. The clean lines, 20-inch alloys and distinctive lighting gives it a premium, futuristic look.
Inside, it’s all about craftsmanship and tech. Expect a 27-inch OLED screen that does both instrument cluster and infotainment duties. The cabin is loaded with features like wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, ventilated and heated seats, Fingerprint Authentication System and Genesis Digital Key 2 for phone-based access. Rear passengers get heated seats and plenty of space.
Powertrain and Charging: Luxury Meets Performance
At its core, the Electrified GV70 runs on a dual-motor setup powering all four wheels. In Comfort Mode it produces 429 hp, in Boost Mode it’s 483 hp and 700 Nm and can do 0–100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds.
The EV has an 84.0 kWh battery with a WLTP range of around 479 km. Thanks to its 800V electrical system, the Electrified GV70 can recover up to 80% charge in around 18 minutes using a high-power 350kW DC fast charger. It also has Vehicle-to-Load (V2L for powering small appliances or gadgets on the go.
Tech and Safety: Loaded as Expected
Genesis hasn’t held back on safety either. Expect 8 airbags, ADAS features like Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist and Lane Keep Assist, Highway Driving Assist II. A 360-degree camera and parking assist tech to help navigate tight city spots.
India Launch Outlook: Premium EV to Watch
No official word yet but the Genesis Electrified GV70 could launch in India by late 2025. If it does, it will take on the BMW iX1, Mercedes EQB and the Volvo XC40 Recharge.Price will depend on import duties but expect it to be above ₹75 lakh (ex-showroom) given its global price of $66,000–$77,000.
