KTM RC160 India Launch: What to Expect

KTM has announced the arrival of the KTM RC160 in India, with the launch scheduled for October 2025 and pre-bookings starting in September. This is the brand’s new entry-level faired motorcycle and will fill the gap left by the discontinued RC125 and take direct aim at the Yamaha R15 V4.

Aggressive Design and Premium Features

As per KTM’s “Ready to Race” DNA, the RC160 has a sharp, aerodynamic full-faired design with clip-on handlebars for a sporty riding stance. It gets premium hardware from the larger RC200 – steel trellis frame, 17-inch alloy wheels and WP suspension with USD forks at the front and a rear monoshock.

Stopping power comes from a large 320mm disc up front and a 230mm unit at the rear, backed by dual-channel ABS for secure braking. A six-speed gearbox with assist and slipper clutch is expected, making it smooth and precise for the spirited riders.

Engine and Performance

The RC160 will be powered by a 160cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine from the RC200. Official numbers are yet to be revealed but industry expectations are around 19 hp and 15.5 Nm, slightly more than the Yamaha R15 V4’s 18.4 hp. This makes it one of the most powerful bike in its class and perfect for riders looking to upgrade from commuter to a true supersport.

Tech and Connectivity

The RC160 comes equipped with a 5-inch LCD display, offering Bluetooth pairing via the KTM Connect app for navigation, calls, and music controls. Riders will get turn-by-turn navigation, call and music alerts and all-LED lighting including headlamp and DRLs. This will make the bike feel modern and practical for daily use.

Price and Rivals

The KTM RC160 is likely to arrive in India with a price tag between ₹1.8 lakh and ₹1.95 lakh (ex-showroom), putting it squarely in the same bracket as the Yamaha R15 V4. With more power and premium features, KTM is targeting young enthusiasts who want style, performance and technology without stepping into the higher displacement segment.
