Intro

Leapmotor is coming to India under Stellantis’ umbrella with the C10 SUV and T03 hatchback as the first two models in the lineup – here’s why it matters: Stellantis gets a ready-made EV pipeline and buyers get more options beyond what’s available today. The plan fits with Stellantis’ push to scale EVs in key growth markets and India is explicitly named as a priority.

C10: midsize EV-SUV play

Framed as a family-sized EV, the Leapmotor C10 slots into the midsize SUV class with seating for five and has already gone on sale in multiple markets under the Stellantis–Leapmotor International umbrella. Abroad, it pairs a sizable battery with a tech-forward cabin featuring a 14.6-inch central display and active safety assists, while India-specific specifications are expected to be detailed closer to the market rollout. The buyer pitch will be around family-friendly range and space with features like panoramic roof and digital instruments to enhance value.

T03: city EV to rival Tiago EV

The Leapmotor T03 is a compact city EV for the affordable end of the market, a natural rival to Tata Tiago EV and Citroen eC3. Globally, the T03 variants have a WLTP-certified range of around 265 km, with an urban-cycle range extending up to 395 km. The battery pack and motor output for the Indian market will be confirmed closer to launch, depending on the brand’s local strategy. For urban commuters, the maths is simple: small footprint, usable real-world range and simple tech like 10.1-inch touchscreen are the USPs.

Why India, why now

Stellantis has formalized Leapmotor International as a 51:49 JV to export, sell and manufacture Leapmotor products outside China and has named India among “other key growth regions”. Executives in India have publicly said Leapmotor’s entry is part of a broader EV strategy and leveraging Stellantis’ existing presence to speed up time-to-market. While earlier reports hinted at a 2024 launch, Stellantis has now confirmed that the first Leapmotor model is slated to arrive in India during the next financial year, which runs from April 2026 to March 2027.

Pricing and localization outlook

While official pricing hasn’t been announced, the T03 is expected to be a competitive offering in the sub-₹12 lakh bracket, while the larger C10 is projected to be positioned in the midsize SUV segment with an estimated price range of ₹13 lakh to ₹22 lakh (ex-showroom). Stellantis has hinted at a phased approach – CKD assembly first and deeper localization based on the business case – to hit aggressive price points. For buyers, localized assembly means more competitive pricing and better parts availability in the long run.

Conclusion

If Stellantis can match Leapmotor’s tech-led value with India-first pricing, the C10 and T03 can widen the EV funnel – one practical family SUV and one city-friendly hatch – where mainstream adoption is happening.
