Maruti Suzuki has officially announced the Maruti Escudo launch date as September 3, 2025, and it’s their next big mid-size SUV. It will take on the likes of Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos and will have strong value with hybrid powertrains, CNG tech and modern features all at Arena showrooms.

Between Brezza and Grand Vitara

Maruti is positioning the Escudo right in the middle of its SUV range – slotting it above the Brezza but below the Grand Vitara. But unlike the Grand Vitara it will be retailed through Arena dealership network and not NEXA. That means wider reach and potentially more competitive pricing.

Bolder Design, Bigger Body

Maruti hasn’t revealed the Escudo’s design yet but test mule sightings suggest a bolder stance with angular LED headlamps, wide grille and connected rear LED light bar. The Escudo is likely to stretch past the Grand Vitara’s 4,345 mm length, giving it an edge in interior room and luggage capacity.

Though some expected a 7 seater, the Escudo will debut as a 5 seater SUV with the possibility of a 7 seater version later.

Powertrains: Petrol, Hybrid and CNG

The Maruti Escudo will get the tried and tested engines from the Grand Vitara:

  • 1.5-litre K-series petrol with mild-hybrid tech (approx. 103 bhp, 138 Nm) with 5 speed manual or 6 speed automatic.
  • 1.5-litre strong hybrid (combined output around 115–120 hp) for top variants with impressive fuel efficiency (up to 27–29 kmpl).
  • Factory-fitted CNG option is also expected for those who want to cut down on running costs.

Features: Premium Meets Practical

Inside the Escudo will get a premium cabin experience for Arena buyers with:

  • A 9-inch floating display that supports wireless smartphone integration for both Android and iOS users
  • Panoramic sunroof (first in any Arena model)
  • Ventilated front seats, wireless charger
  • 360-degree camera, 6 airbags (in higher trims)
  • ADAS tech like lane departure warning, emergency braking (expected in top variants)

Expected Price and Rivals

The Escudo is expected to be priced between ₹10 lakh to ₹15 lakh ex-showroom. That puts it in the same league as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Honda Elevate and the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder.
