MG Comet EV, India’s most compact and city-centric electric car, has got a price hike of up to ₹15,000 across variants. Despite the increase, it remains a top pick for urban drivers with its compact size, efficient performance and unique ownership options.

July 2025 Prices

As of July 29, 2025, JSW MG Motor India has revised the MG Comet EV prices, with the base Executive variant now starting at ₹7.50 lakh, and the top-end Blackstorm Edition priced at ₹10 lakh (ex-showroom). The hike is moderate and doesn’t dent its reputation as one of India’s most affordable EVs.

MG is still offering the Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model which reduces the upfront cost. With this scheme, the Executive variant can be purchased for just ₹4.99 lakh, and users pay a rental fee of around ₹3.1/km for the battery.

Small Size, Big Convenience

The MG Comet EV stands out with its ultra-compact dimensions: just 2974 mm long, with a turning radius perfect for city streets. Its bold, boxy design, with LED headlamps, a connecting rear light bar and dual-tone colour options, gives it a youthful, urban look.

Inside, you’ll find a surprisingly feature-packed layout. The dual 10.25-inch touchscreen and digital cluster combo handles infotainment and driver data, while features like wireless smartphone connectivity, keyless entry and rear parking camera make daily use easy and intuitive.

Urban Focused

The car is powered by a permanent magnet synchronous motor producing 41.42 bhp and 110 Nm of torque, with either a 17.3 kWh or 17.4 kWh battery. This setup offers an ARAI-certified range of 230 km, with real-world numbers closer to 150-220 km depending on conditions.

Charging is through AC sources only:

  • A standard 3.3 kW charger takes about 7 hours to full charge.
  • Higher-end FC variants come with a 7.4 kW AC charger which takes about 3.5 hours to full charge.
  • DC fast charging isn’t available, so long distance travel is limited but fine for urban usage.MG has loaded the car with safety features for city driving:
  • Dual front airbags
  • ABS with EBD
  • ISOFIX mounts
  • ESC and Hill Hold (on higher trims)
  • Rear camera and sensors
