Nissan is making a comeback in India and the first signs are out on the road. A heavily camouflaged prototype of Nissan’s new SUV has been spotted for the first time. Launch by mid-2026, this midsize SUV is aimed at the Hyundai Creta – a tough competitor that rules the segment.
Bold, Box and Built to Wow
Even under the camouflage wrap, it looks impressive. The SUV has a rugged, upright stance inspired by the Nissan Patrol, a commanding presence. The front has a wide grille with the Nissan badge, C-shaped bumper elements that may house DRLs or fog lamps. Square wheel arches, five-spoke alloys and a flat tailgate with rectangular tail-lamps make it look no-nonsense and road-ready.
Shared Platform, Unique Personality
Built on the CMF-B platform shared with the upcoming Renault Duster, this SUV won’t be just a rebadge. Nissan will give it a distinct design and interior to differentiate it from its partner’s model.
Power will come from a 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine producing around 152 bhp and 250 Nm, with a manual or 7-speed dual-clutch automatic. A strong hybrid variant is expected later and even a CNG option is being considered.
Loaded for the Fight
Interiors are under wraps but industry buzz suggests a 10.1-inch infotainment screen, digital instrument cluster and 360-degree camera. These features will help it take on rivals like Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun and Honda Elevate.
By mid-2026, Nissan’s upcoming SUV could mark the brand’s big return to the limelight – and a serious Creta challenger.
