Nissan has slashed the Magnite’s price by up to ₹1 lakh in India, in line with the GST 2.0 revision and making it one of the most affordable options in its class, which is the “why it matters” for budget-conscious buyers looking for a feature-packed compact SUV. According to Nissan, the new prices are applicable from September 22 and bookings at the new rates are open across dealerships from today.

Why prices dropped

The Magnite qualifies for the lower slab as a sub-4m vehicle with engines up to 1,200 cc, from a total tax of 29% (28% GST + 1% cess) to a revised tax of 18%, an 11% reduction which Nissan says is fully passed on to the customer. The company expects the cut to boost festive season demand, directly benefiting entry variants and turbo-CVT buyers with ₹1,00,400 top-end savings on select trims.

New prices explained

The entry-level Magnite Visia MT is now available at ₹5,61,600 ex-showroom, improving the Magnite’s value proposition at the base by a big margin versus pre-cut prices. At the top-end, the Tekna and Tekna+ turbo-CVT variants get the biggest reduction – up to ₹1,00,400 – making fully loaded CVT options cheaper than earlier and closer to premium hatch prices for those cross-shopping segments.

Powertrains unchanged, wider benefit

The price update covers 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol and 1.0-litre turbo-petrol across manual, AMT and CVT, so customers see a benefit regardless of gearbox choice without any mechanical changes to evaluate. That’s important because it preserves the Magnite’s spec spread while making the CVT option more accessible in metros where automatics are in higher demand.

Safety and ownership add-ons

With the new GST pricing, Magnite’s base is now closer to hatches while rivals like Kiger and Punch have also announced big post-GST cuts, so the entry-SUV value war is heating up. The net result is a more aggressive price-to-spec equation for Magnite buyers, especially on higher trims where the absolute rupee cut is more. Nissan also highlights the model’s 5-star adult occupant rating from Global NCAP and continues to offer extended warranty plans up to 10 years.

Conclusion

The new Magnite prices and open bookings ahead of the festive season make a strong case for budget-conscious buyers to consider the SUV, whether they are looking for entry-level affordability or significant savings on higher-end automatic variants.
