Tata Nexon EV ADAS: what’s new and why it matters
Tata Nexon EV ADAS is coming to the lineup via the new Empowered+ A 45 variant, adding Level 2 assistance to India’s best-selling mainstream e-SUV segment; it’s a timely move as safety tech becomes a decider for city buyers and highway commuters alike. Here’s why it matters: Level 2 features like adaptive cruise and lane keep can reduce fatigue on longer runs while keeping the user experience familiar and confidence-building.
The ADAS suite, in plain English
The ADAS suite will reportedly include adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, forward collision warning with autonomous emergency braking, traffic sign recognition, and high beam assist. Think of it as driver support that can pace traffic, nudge the SUV within its lane and react to sudden stops, while the driver stays engaged and responsible at all times. Complementing the sensors is a 360-degree camera with blind-spot monitoring already available on higher trims, improving low-speed visibility and lane changes.
Variant, battery and range
The ADAS pack will debut on a new top-end variant, likely to be called ‘Empowered+ A 45,’ which will sit above the current Empowered Plus 45 trims. It retains the 45 kWh battery and motor setup, with real-world range quoted around 350-375 km and performance figures of 106 kW (145 hp) and 215 Nm of torque. DC fast charging from 10-80% is expected to take around 40 minutes using a 60 kW DC fast charger.
Cabin tech and everyday upgrades
Tech stack remains feature-rich: 12.3-inch infotainment system running Tata’s Arcade.ev app suite, wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, JBL audio with subwoofer and panoramic sunroof with voice control on upper trims. Ventilated seats, 360° camera and V2V/V2L capability add everyday usefulness, especially for road trips and backup power scenarios. Dark and Red Dark editions will also get ADAS, combining the blacked-out look with the new tech.
Price, positioning and rivals
The current top-end Empowered Plus 45 variant is priced at ₹16.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The new ADAS-equipped variant is expected to carry a premium of around ₹75,000, bringing its estimated price to approximately ₹17.75 lakh. This makes the Nexon EV a stronger case against rivals like the MG ZS EV and MG Windsor EV Pro, which are priced at a similar or slightly higher range and also offer ADAS features.
Closing Note: By adding Level 2 assistance to an already feature-rich package, Tata is turning up the value knob where it matters – safety, highway ease and future-proof features that buyers are expecting.
