Tata Motors is all set to launch an all-electric version of its flagship SUV – the Tata Safari EV. Expected to launch towards the end of 2025 or early 2026, this new model combines the trusted Safari name with EV technology. A family-friendly yet premium electric SUV with long range, tech-packed interior and competitive price bracket.
Updated Design with EV Touches
Outside, the Tata Safari EV will have the same bold stance as the current model but with EV design cues. A closed grille, smoother aerodynamic wheels and sharper LED lighting will be part of the package.
Step inside, and the Safari EV is expected to feel more upscale, with a stronger focus on technology and comfort. Expect a 12.3-inch infotainment screen, 10.25-inch digital instrument display, ventilated seats in both rows, panoramic sunroof and advanced ADAS safety features like adaptive cruise control and lane-keep assist. In short, the Safari EV will have comfort and modern tech for both families and tech savvy buyers.
Range, Platform and Charging
The big talking point is the range. Built on Tata’s Gen 2 acti.ev platform, the Safari EV will have up to 500 km range, more than enough for highway trips and daily commutes. Charging won’t be a problem either, with fast charging that can charge the battery from 10% to 80% in an hour. Tata is also working on Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) charging, so the SUV can power appliances or even charge another EV.
Price and Rivals
Pricing for the Tata Safari EV is expected to fall in the ₹26–32 lakh (ex-showroom) bracket, making it more premium than the diesel Safari. That’s more than the diesel Safari but still within reach of rivals like MG ZS EV, Hyundai Kona Electric and BYD Atto 3. In the future it will also compete with Hyundai Creta EV and Mahindra XUV.e8, making it a very competitive segment.
