V8 Toyota GR Supra Supercar Sydney Launch 2025

If you’re a motorsport fan like me, you’ve probably dreamed about what a race-spec GR Supra would look and sound like. That dream is finally coming to life and it’s not just loud, it’s V8 loud. This September, Toyota is set to reveal the GR Supra Supercar and excitement is building fast.

Mark your calendar for September 1, because Sydney’s Freedom_nu event is about to get wild. This isn’t a regular Supra you’d see on the streets. We’re talking about a purpose built beast, developed to go head to head with the Ford Mustang and Chevrolet Camaro in the 2026 Repco Supercars Championship.

Toyota’s entry into Supercars has been a long time coming and now it’s full throttle. Walkinshaw Andretti United is gearing up to enter two GR Supras, with Chaz Mostert and Ryan Wood expected behind the wheel. Brad Jones Racing is joining the party too, with four more Supras on the grid. That’s six Toyota rockets ready to fire when the season starts.

What makes this launch even more exciting is the custom V8 under the bonnet, a departure from the inline six you’d find in the road car. It’s been built to Supercars regulations so performance, precision and noise levels will rattle your bones in the best way possible.

Toyota started building anticipation nearly a year back by showcasing a clay prototype at the previous Bathurst 1000. Now the final version is here and if you’re at the track in October you might even see it in action during demo laps.

This isn’t just Toyota joining the party, the Toyota GR Supra Supercar is coming in with something to prove and I can’t wait to hear it scream down Conrod Straight.
